Description

This rare camouflage smock was designed exclusively for X Mas RSI troops, and was adopted by elite units including the famous NP (N = swimmer; P = paratrooper) of the navy, also because no combat jump was planned any longer. They were produced in 1944 and 1945 in different types of tissues, this specific one being of the same material used to produce quarter shelters and the late type jump smocks. Most likely it was inspired by the German Luftwaffe ground combat smock, having the same function. It is a very sought collector piece being iconic of X Mas units, a sort of private army, fighting alongside the Germans but independently from the Italian Government. Around a dozen pieces known in existence, much rarer than paratrooper jump smocks. It is in excellent condition.
