US Veteran mail-home Luftwaffe glider plane section swastika souvenir. Measuring 45x45cm. Captured and taken by « Cpl. JOHN GREANEY » in the Italian theater dated « OCT 1943 ». The swastika is constructed out of an early plywood commonly used in aircraft manufacturing. Crudely removed with some shrapnel battle damage present. Retains the vast majority of its original factory sea-green/grey paint. Some stress marks and cracks are present. Marked in pen on the back with the capture information. Also retains its original mail home sleeve envelope which is constructed from a natural fiber and paper like material. Fully labeled containing his personal unit information, US State address, postage stamps and US Customs processing stamps and content information. One of the nicest mail-home souvenirs we have seen and a unique piece of history !
