Exceptional and unique German Lufwaffe helmet set in three tone spray camouflage, both helmets were painted in the same unit, using the same paints and application pattern. It is extremely difficult to be able to put together two helmets with the exact same camouflage.
#1 / M35 Luftwaffe three-tone sawdust textured camouflage combat helmet, « NS66 »
A choice M1935 Luftwaffe three-tone camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « NS66 » with a lot number « L154 » that is slightly unreadable. The helmet's exterior features a choice three-tone spray applied camouflage finish. The colors of tan, dark brown and green are clearly present. Matte in feel and semi rough in textured do to the heavy coating. The colors are strong and vivid and do some contrast. A normal amount of wear present to include scuffs and some scrapes. Some light oxidation along the dome and a normal amount of wear around the rim. The Luftwaffe decal is present under the thick paint. The helmet's interior remains as found and untouched condition. Evidence of the helmet being reissued can be seen. A darker feldgrau paint going around the skirt and even over the liner band is clearly evident. Brown leather liner is complete and in very nice untouched condition. Drawstring and secondary string to handing is still present. Early and its original brown leather chinstrap is present. It is maker marked and dated « OTTO JAHNKE 1938 ». The liner is unit stamped « STABSBATTERIE » and « 58 » for size along the tip of the tongue.The dome stamp is present and the dome is also stamped in classic black ink / block form to the former unit, the helmet was issued « III. / FLAK RGT. 9 ». #2 / M40 Luftwaffe three-tone sawdust textured camouflage combat helmet, « SE68 »
A really nice and unique M1940 Luftwaffe three-tone spray camouflage combat helmet. The helmet is an « SE68 » with a lot number of « 4887 ». The helmets exterior features a rarely seen period spray application of three color spray camouflage finish with a mixture of heavier size wood chips, dark brown spray accents over the normal tan and green colors. The helmets exterior shows really nice wear, proper edge wear and some paint loss to the rivets. Overall rating in at approximately 95%, matte in feel. For an unknown reason, some glue residue is present on each side of the helmet, these could be removed if necessary. The interior of the helmets remains in untouched and undisturbed condition. Leather liner is supple and retains a nice light brown color. Drawstring is absent. Early aluminum liner band is present with proper rectangular shaped chinstrap attachment buckles. Some oxidation and debris around the band as any untouched helmet should be. Chinstrap is present, supple and complete. Maker marked and dated « VOEGEL KOLN 1939 ». The leather liner is named to two separate individuals « HOMANN » and « ABELUSS ». Overall a very unique and rarely encountered type of spray camouflage combat helmet.
