Unissued US M-1910 T-shovel cover, « 1942 »
Description
Very nice US M-1910 T-shovel cover. This batch of covers were made for the 1942 newly formed US 10th Mountain division. They were issued with T handle shovels and the original covers did not fit well with the mountain pack. So instead, a special run was produced with the tab in a totally different place to accommodate placing the shovel higher up the back with the pack so as to not get into the way while mountain climbing. Not an error but instead a rarely found special forces use item. It is suspect that there was an overrun and the mountain designed examples were later reconfigured to the original specifications. In mint/unissued condition. Interesting cover !
