Description

USM1 Fixed Bale USN Medics Helmet. Shell retains over 90% of its factory finish, showing wear along the seam. Fixed bales present and retain their original straps and early brass hardware. The straps are slightly soiled and show some oxidation. Helmet belonged to a U.S.Navy medic that decorated the helmet in white paint with all the places, battles, important dates and ships he was involved with. Of special interest is nicely hand painted USN caduceus in the front. They dedications include some of the most important dates during the PTO with the start of Pearl Harbor Dec 7th 1941, Battle of Midway June 6th 1942, Guadalcanal Oct 30th 1942. A few US submarines are mentioned, other island and places, bombs and missions and the name of a loved one on the back. We believe this helmet and all its art work represent the places this navy sailor was or involved with and soldiers that he treated during this time. A very nice unique helmet with great character and eye appeal !
