Superb WWII US Parachutist Badge with combat star, commonly referred to as « JUMP WINGS ». Shows nice use and wear along the front. The reverse is the more desirable pin back variety, marked marked « JR Gaunt - London » and marked in raised letters « STERLING SILVER » along the bottom. This example directly comes out of the woodwork in Vielsalm area in the Belgian Ardennes.Worn on the dress uniform or jump jacket. The Army Parachute Badge was designed by Captain Yarborough and 2nd Lt. Minter and was first presented on March 23, 1941. Qualification was six jumps, but later reduced to five.
