This is an excellent patched, named, and painted A-2 Flight Jacket belonging to Bombardier Robert Melvin Wells (O-718164), Lt. 334TH Bombardment Squadron 95Th Bombardment Group (H). The jacket is in excellent condition with original unaltered waist and cuffs. A few snags and rips on the cuffs but typical on these jackets. Leather is in supple condition and unrestored as found. Retains its original zipper manufactured by « TALON ». Jacket is stamped in black ink « SIZE 38 W8164 ». Cannot make out the manufacture as no evidence of a tag is present. Unit bomb patch shows a crow or eagle like character holding a yellow painted bomb, original stitched to the jacket. Name tag above with his name. Lieutenant bars in leather applied to the shoulders on each side of the jacket. On the back a very nicely executed painted of his plane with the plane number still visible on the tail above a blue background. Twelve yellow bombs are painted in a convex manor indicating twelve successful missions. Included in the grouping are a few pairs of his dogs tags, bombardier wings, sweat heart bracelet, and Air Medal citation. We have included below the website of the 95th Bomb Group. Lt. Wells was later transferred to the 100th Bomb Group, 351st Bomb Squadron and flew another 6 missions as a radio operator, making a total of runs 18! This A-2 jacket was originally acquired out of the woodwork in 2015.
