A beautiful and rare USM1 1st Lieutenant of the 2nd infantry Division named to « Lt. MURPHY ». The helmet remains in untouched and as-found condition. The combat helmet features a period hand painted emblem of the 2nd Infantry Division « INDIANHEAD », which has been painted twice. Properly affixed silver lieutenant's bar along the front. Factory applied early khaki web straps are complete and present. They also retain the classic brass hardware. In the detailed photo below you can see that the helmet has never been cleaned and shows all the nice signs of what a true combat helmet should look like. Some wear along the rim and minor paint loss is naturally present. The back shows the classic « ETO - FOLLOW STRIPE » overpainted in the classic OD green paint. Interior of the shell is marked to the former owner « LT. MURPHY ». No research has been done at this point. Shell is stamped « 221B ». Comes with its original matching complete liner. Manufactured by « International Molded Plastics, Inc ». The liner features again matching and well executed period hand painted emblem of the 2nd Infantry Division along the front and a painted 1st Lieutenants bar. Interior remains all complete. Showing nice signs of period wear, some dust and oxidation naturally present. A perfect set.
