USM1 5th Infantry Division identified helmet set, « ETO / woodwork find »

Description
An exceptional USM1 front seam fixed bale identified helmet set to the 5th Infantry Division « RED DIAMOND ». The helmet belonged to « William Ernest Eberwein, serial number 33766516 ». The helmets exterior features a period painted red diamond over the previous application of another division emblem. The paint rates overall at around 90%. Normal to light combat wear is present. The back of the helmet shows evidence of the famous and desirable « FOLLOW ME » stripe of the « ETO ». The helmet retains both factory applied web chinstraps with brass hardware. The one web strap retains the full name and serial number of the one owner of the helmet. The helmets original and matching liner is untouched and undisturbed. Matching to the helmet and has always been together. The exterior is in relatively good condition. Retaining its period red diamond painted along the front. Dusty and matte in feel as it has not been played with over the years. The interior is also dirty, untouched and it its originals state. The liner band is rather dry but present. The liner is missing its leather chinstrap and neck rest piece along the back. Its nicely ink marked with the owner’s name and partial serial number « E6516 - EBERWEIN ». The liners manufacturer remains obscure due to the dust accumulation and debris. A really nice and very desirable named, unit marked and untouched true U.S. « ETO » combat helmet to a famous Infantry Division.
