Description

Superb and rare USM1 combat helmet of the « 9th Infantry Division, 39th Infantry Regiment ». The helmet is a front seam fixed bale example. The helmet's exterior is in untouched condition and retains well over 95% of its paint to include the desirable white painted unit markings of the 39th Infantry Regiment. The  « AAAO » (Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, Bar Nothing) is painted on both sides of the helmet. In the detailed photos below clear evidence of the two previous « AAAO » markings can be clearly seen under the green paint, the unit markings were painted three times in total. The captain's rank as well as the vertical « Follow Me » officer's stripe at the rear have been painted twice. The helmet retains its factory applied web chin straps with early brass hardware. The helmet retains its original and matching « Westinghouse » manufactured liner. The exterior retains the mirror image emblems and markings as the helmet shell, overall retaining over 90% of its paint and painted markings. The liner is complete and in very good condition, retaining its original early leather chinstrap with green painted buckle. A laundry number is present « 5988 ». Overall an exceptional and untouched set from one of the most famous unit of the Second World War. Choice !
