Description

A nice USM1 fixed bale front seam combat helmet for a captain. The helmets shell retains over 90% of its original factory finish. Normal to light scuffs scraps and abrasions are present on the helmet. One hairline stress crack on the exterior of the shell is also present along with some dome wear. The paint is matte to touch and shows no handling. The helmet retains a partial period application of captain's bars along the front. Made from the application of medical tape. One bar is absent but remnants of the adhesive still are present. The helmet retains its original factory green web straps, mid-war variety with black painted steel hardware. The helmet retains its original and matching liner. The exterior is matte in finish and retains over 95% of its factory OD green painted finish. The painted captain's rank along the front has been removed but retains a complete painted « ETO » combat leader's stripe in white paint along the back. The liner is manufactured by « SEAMEN PAPER CO ». It is complete with all webbing and chinstrap and shows nice use with staining and real wear.  An interesting and complete set circa mid to late 1944. Choice example.
