Description

Superb USM1 front seam fixed bale helmet from the 28th Infantry Division « KEYSTONE ». Helmet has clearly seen action and use. The shell was first marked with a large Keystone divisional insignia on the front and with the classic white horizontal NCO bar on the back, later the shell was repainted with the classic OD green paint and another smaller divisional insignia was painted on the front and still rates at 95%. The back shows the « ETO bar » coming through the overpaint. Both factory applied straps are present and retain their early brass hardware. The shell is marked with the lot number « 71A ». The helmet comes with a very nice mid-war standard US helmet liner manufactured by « MSA ». The liner is complete and in very good overall condition. Original and untouched divisional helmets are hard to get. Great example from one of the famous US divisions that saw action across Europe, especially during the Battle of the Bulge. This helmet was found in the Belgian Ardennes many years ago.
