USM1 fixed bale helmet, 4th Infantry Division « IVY DIVISION »
Description
A USM1 fixed bale front seam combat shell with the 4th Infantry Division divisional emblem. This division has taken part and landed on Utah Beach during the D-DAY Invasion in Normandy, France and all other main battles in the ETO including the Battle of the Bulge and into Germany. The helmet shell is in very nice condition retaining over 90% of its factory finish. It shows use and handling with normal scuffs, dings and scraps. Stainless steel rim shows use and matching paint loss. The helmet features the 4th Infantry Division unit emblem painted in a typical green paint along the front, the green of the insignia practically blends with the paint of the helmet. The fixed bale retains its original helmet straps in tan webbing and complete with earlier brass hardware. A partial serial number is also present on the chinstraps « F9930 ». The interior retains a serial number in yellow paint and shell is stamped « 25DD ». A harder to find « ETO » divisional helmet shell.
