Description

Superb USM1 single panel medic helmet identified to William L. Jayme, ASN 8145122. The helmet is in overall excellent condition. William Leroy Jayme was born on June 7, 1925 in Manhattan, New York City. He served in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman (combat medic) attached to Company E, 3rd Med. Battalion, 3rd Marine Division (see attached documents). Fixed bail helmet with a medic panel painted on the front. The rear of the helmet has « JAYME, W.L. » stamped in black. The original chinstraps have a flat brass buckle and brass double J hook. The moriginal liner is made by « MSA » and is complete. The headband also has « JAYME,W.L. » stamped in black, a section of the front leather has deteriorated. The leather liner chinstrap has green coated steel hardware with a flat lever buckle. Original Medic helmets are extremely difficult to find, especially all complete and identified. This helmet will make a high end addition to a collection.
