USM1 NCO helmet liner, 101st AB, 506th PIR, 2nd Battalion
Description
A very nice and scarce USM1 helmet liner attributed to a Non-Commissioned Officer of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. This example is a « Firestone » manufactured liner, preserved in untouched, as-found condition, and was recovered in Eastern France. The liner displays on both sides the distinctive white spade marking identifying the 506th PIR. The tactical marking at the six o’clock position denotes the 2nd Battalion. The front bears the rank of Sergeant, while the rear features the horizontal NCO bar. Notably, the insignia have been overpainted twice, clearly visible in the detailed photos. The soldier’s initials « EFL » are engraved inside the liner. An outstanding and combat-used piece, rich in history and character.
