USM1 sawdust camouflage helmet, « Montebourg - Normandie »
Description
Exceptional early USM1 fixed bale front seam helmet. This helmet was found in the village of Montebourg in the Manche department, in Normandy. It retains its original early web straps with early brass hardware, a partial A.S.N. « L9176 » is present on one of them. A rank was present on the front before being overpainted in green. The exterior shows use with several areas of paint loss. Normal scuffs and scraps are present including wear around the rim. The photos below show great detail in the paint structure. The helmet has been slightly deformed (see photos). The helmet retains its original « Firestone »liner, it is in worn and incomplete condition. This is a unique USM1 helmet!
