USM1c paratrooper helmet set, « French Captain »
Description
A period USM1C airborne paratrooper helmet rig complete with its period matching paratrooper liner. The set remains in as found untouched condition. The helmet exterior shows 97% of the factory applied « OD » green paint finish still intact. Minor oxidation from prolonged storage and exposure to the elements is present. Rough is feel with a textured coating. Three yellow horizontal bars are hand painted along the front to represent a French military rank « Captain ». Swivel bails are present and fully functional. All factory machine stitched chin straps are present and complete. The paratrooper helmet liner is present and matching to the helmet. Its interior is all complete and in untouched condition. It shows actual combat wear to include some minor soiling and staining along the leather sweatband. « A » web straps are complete and the liner still retains its original khaki web chin cup in place. Everything remains fully mounted and tightly secured. The airborne liner is nicely factory painted on its exterior. Rates in at approximately 98%. It shows a nice « OD » green finish with only slight abrasions and scuffs. The same hand painted yellow French rank is present. Overall a very nice textbook late-war US airborne paratrooper helmet rig. Choice.
