Description

An extremely rare Waffen-SS enlisted mans M1943 field cap for a « Gebirgsjäger ». The cap is made from a coarse feldgrau wool. Features « BeVo » stacked insignia both period hand applied along the front. Front retains its single button plastic brown button of the smaller variety still present and factory attached with a textbook keyhole opening. SS pattern Edelweiss insignia period hand sewn along the wearers left side is also present. The cap exhibits period wear and use with minor fraying of the insignia along the front and exposure to the elements. This was a combat used field cap and it shows. Several small holes from moths in certain areas. Please see the detailed photos attached below. The field caps interior shows plenty of period use and poor storage. The cap is lined in textbook rayon material. Fully present but in used condition is the wider band leather sweatband. The cap is properly ink stamped for size « 55 » and void of any makers. It is also named to the former Waffen-SS soldier in pen along the back « FRÖHLICH ». The underside of the bill shows some staining and moth holes that expose the bill material. One interesting feature located behind the Edelweiss is a extra sewing needle with several loops of loose feldgrau grey thread. The needle has rusted but remains untouched and undisturbed. Overall one of the rarest and highly desirable Waffen-SS M43 field caps. Unique and choice item.
