Waffen-SS helmet cover and helmet set. A unique second type helmet cover consisting of a mixture of three camouflage patterns. Including Plane Tree, Oakleaf, and Blurred Edge patterns. On this cover one can observe the history of the camouflage patterns evolution. The center and left panels features an early Plane Tree No. 5/6 pattern. The wearers right side is Oakleaf and Blurred Edge on the autumn side as hook retention panels. All hooks, rockers, and foliage loops are intact and undisturbed. Two of the main springs have just come undone from their top securing sewing. The spring side back panel area shows some evidence of paint splatter but easily overlooked. Cover is nicely and properly ink stamp marked with a « 2 » for size. This set was original sourced in Norway in the late 1990's from a published newspaper wanted ad and comes from the estate of a Norwegian foreign volunteer into the Waffen-SS. The helmet that the cover was found with is an « ET66 » with lot number « 1179 ». Retains its vast majority of factory finish paint on the exterior. Evidence of a decal removed on the wearer's left side but nicely removed. Exterior surface shows normal wear, scratches, and scraps. Interior is complete and in very nice shape. Leather liner is supple and chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated. Overall the set is a top shelf example featuring vivid, bright, and contrasting colors on both sides.
