WWII German Rural gendarmerie Shako with its Original Fabric Cover. In excellent unissued condition. Green wool body is in top condition, no holes or mothing. All paint present on all four air vents. Leather brown trim has some crazing which is found on all these pieces. Chinstrap undisturbed and no marks from movement. Brown lacquer and color is top condition. Eagle and cockade is constructed out of aluminum, never removed and is pristine shape. Interior of the shako is the same shape as the exterior - choice mint with no stains, cracks, or repairs. Made by the famous firm « EREL », size in a white ink stamp of « 57 ». The cover is rarely seen for these, in mint condition and made of a grayish cotton fabric. Would of been placed on the Shako for rain protection and storage. This was part of a larger police grouping found recently out of a house clean-out in New Jersey, USA.
