WWII M16 German Police transitional double decal combat helmet
Description
A period early WWI German reissue Police double decal combat helmet. Maker is not visible. The helmet's exterior features a really nice early almost apple green feldgrau finish. A set of early Police decals are present and rate well over 97%. Borderless example. The helmet has some light flaking over the decades but remains in untouched and as-found condition. Interior is matching the exterior. Full leather liner is very nice almost never used condition. Rivets are oxidized from improper storage. Paint transfer of the green feldgrau color on some parts of the leather are evident. The liner band remains untouched and tightly attached. Leather chinstrap is present, shows some paint transfer as well. The rivets show oxidation and most likely the rivet on the chinstrap fell off at some point, small repair with a new sewing on one side (see photos). The dome of the helmet retains a period typed paper tag of the former owner « Thor Leopold / Hptw.d.Schutz-Pol. / S.AK. III, 33. Pol. Rev. ». Worthy of further research. A rare configuration transitional early Police combat helmet. Choice.
