German MG service box, « Waffen-Reinigungsöl »
Description
Very attractive German metal crate designed for the transport and storage of maintenance supplies for MG machine guns. Manufactured from stamped steel, it features a tan painted finish. The top is fitted with a folding steel carrying handle and a hook-type locking mechanism. The lid bears the white-painted inscription « Waffen-Reinigungsöl » (weapon cleaning oil). The set includes two rectangular metal cans with screw caps, intended for storing gun oil and cleaning products. These containers were housed inside the box, forming a complete maintenance kit for German machine guns such as the MG 34 and MG 42. The wood insert is stil present. The set is in very good overall condition. This is the first time we have encountered this tan painted variant.
