A stunning and very rare USM1 fixed bale front seam battle damaged helmet straight from the woodwork and recovered in the Ardennes (Bagatelle - Baugnez - Malmedy) just after the Battle of the Bulge by mister Jardinet who was a teacher during the war. This helmet was on display for several years at the Baugnez 44 Historical Center. A rare and rather unique helmet shows a very nice untouched and as-found look. Multiple shrapnel damage present that penetrates both shell and liner. Dusty dirty and a true time capsule. Liner remains complete with natural accumulation over the decades. Unique feature showing a unit emblem along the front in red paint. Also featuring the nick name of the soldier « SNAKE ». A very rare and selected offering of a US combat helmet with direct provenance to the Battle of the Bulge. Choice.
