Description

An exceptional USM1 fixed bale front seam 1st Infantry Division helmet. This helmet from the famous 1st Infantry Division « BIG RED ONE » was found in the early 90’ in the town of Malmedy in the Ardennes, Belgium. The helmet shell remains in its original as-found and undisturbed condition. The front of the helmet retains a coat of camouflage paint or anti-gas detection paint prior to the division emblem being hand painted over it. This has been observed on other helmets of the division. The shell retains its original factory web straps with brass hardware intact. The liner is in very good condition but was not found with the helmet. It retains over 95% of its original factory OD green finish. The solider which remains unknown period applied his name «  ALBRIGHT » along the front of the liner in white paint. Showing overall gentle use with some scuffs and scraps. The interior liners web suspension system is complete and in undisturbed condition. Leather chinstrap is in very good supple condition. Exceptional helmet from one of the most prestigious US infantry divisions to serve in the Second World War.
